Tiki Week at Local 149

Posted on: Monday, August 20, 2012

We continued the tropical theme during Tiki Week at one of our favorite restaurants in South Boston, Local 149. The cozy interior was adorned with tiki lights, wood-carved masks, and servers dressed in leis and florals that all meshed with the usual rainbow-hued vintage seltzer bottles and rustic chalkboard dining tables. Walking into the luau-decorated, bustling restaurant, we sat at the bar and ordered fruity drinks with colorful umbrellas, and sampled an array of Polynesian-themed entrees.
Marni’s choice: Suffering Bastard (Brandy, Gin, Lime Cordial, Ginger Beer)

Kara’s choice: My Oh Mai Tai (Jamaican Rum, CuraƧao, and Pistachio Orgeat)

Halibut Ceviche followed by Tuna Poke with Creamy Macadamia and Lychee Vinaigrette

Hawaiian BBQ of Local Hams with Hawaiian Baked Beans and Roasted Pineapple

Mahi Mahi fish Sandwich with Guacamole, Bacon and Taro Root Chips
Spicy Lemon Honey Pipikaula Short Ribs with Pickled Mango
Just a T ride away in Southie, we were transported to a tropical paradise with the usual friendly service and unique and creative dishes!
